I do believe that we should raise a charity; not necessarily donate to it, but start a charity toward buying drew a 360; then we should lynch his PS3

well if we lynch drew we dont have to spend our hard earned money on him. Besides its his fault he bought a crappy system. No, I'm joking. I kid the PS3! It's not that bad. But 360 would be more fun cause he could play halo 3 and COD4 with us again. like old times. Instead of maybe every once in a while going over to Ulto's house and playing resistance with him for like five minutes. Tell you the truth we usually don't play Ulto's PS3 when we go to his house. We always go downstairs and play Halo 3 on his xbox. What does that tell ya?

That you like Halo 3? And I don't?
Halo 3 is a mindless shooter. So is Resistance. No strategy involved. Shoot this guy, get shot at, die, respawn.
But Team Fortress 2 and Call of Duty 4 rely more on SKILL. On CoD4, I play Search and Destroy, so there is no respawning, so you have to use skill to make that 1 life count. And on TF2, it's all about choosing which class to use based on the situation you are in.
TF2 > CoD4 > Resistance = Halo 3
;D WIN ;D
And I wouldn't mind getting a free 360, but I'm not giving up my baby for it. So I'm excercising my right not to vote.

Ya first off COD4 usually doesn't take skill. Sorry. This is an arguement i've already had before. In fact the learning curve of COD4 is way lower then the learning curve of Halo. COD4 anyone can jump in and play as long as they have basic shooter eperience. With Halo, because of the quick pace run and gun its more difficult to get it. Secondly. Yes COD4 does take a some skill for games like search and destroy and hardcore games, but again it's not by much. Your still running around shooting enemies. It just happens to be more long range oriented and in fact some of the noobiest skilless stradegies in the history of shooters is employed during these gametypes. (AKA throwing a grenade at the enemy spawn. And the Noob/Boob tube) Not to mention you hardly ever find any form of stradegy employed unless you get lucky and find a group of people who are smart enough to do so. Even then Only the simplest of stradegies are employed here, namely pointing out enemy positions or directing airstrikes or UAV use. No one but a small group of people actually use these simple stradegies, and playing in the non-hardcore or non-one-death gametypes you won't see this at all. In the non-hardcore gametypes all you see is the running and gunning fenetic action that you are bashing halo for. The only reason it feels more realistic and stragetic is beacuse of the longer rabge fighting and the use of cover more often. In short, COD4 is just like any other shooter including halo when it comes down to stradegy and the pace of the gameplay.
But I'm not just bashng COD4 it really is a great game. I love it. I'm just showing you why your arguement makes no sense. In fact Halo suffers from these same exact faults. Only in MLG and Swat gametypes will you find simple stradegies employed (location naming and player positions) You also only find these stradegies employed in the higher ranked players and pro players. Other then this small group its mostly running and gunning. The pattern repeats itself for almost every shooter I've ever played. That includes Team Fortress 2, SHadowrun, Resistance, to name a few. The closet game I've seen get to a real stragetic level was Gear of War. The cover system really made a difference and made ppl play the game differently then other shooters. Still there was a lot of run and gun tactics used, but it was lessened a bit. MGS4 is also a game that looks promising. Like Gears I saw a lot of run and gun, but thanks to various gameplay features it made it feel more like organized runa nd gun. You didn't just go out and kill, you went out and killed for a purpose, to achieve a goal. There was more cover fire, more locations more teamwork involved. Gears could also achive this with some various changes. So far these are the closest examples of true stradegy I've seen. But it's still no where near what it could be. And this is only smaller scale skirmishes. What's it gonna be like in full on 80 vs 80 battles like in resistance. Hopefully these numbers will provide a whole new level of stradegy. You'll have to have an ortganized army or you'll lose. The truth is any ame with small scale skirmishes of 32 players or less will ultimately be run nd guns. And no ampount of realsim can change that.

Pheonix holds a very valid point, all of these games have some run and gun element, they just present it in a different way, call of duty you either camp or "run and gun" there's no real middle ground, and if you love TF2 soo much you should know about the R&G part of that, what do scouts, soldiers, heavies, and demo men do?

exactly. Run and Gun and stradegy is not a good arguement to make when comparing shooters cause thats basically what most of them are.

You'll have to have an ortganized army or you'll lose. The truth is any ame with small scale skirmishes of 32 players or less will ultimately be run nd guns. And no ampount of realsim can change that. With Halo 3, the point is it's too fast. There's no thinking. It doesn't matter if you die, you'll respawn 3 seconds later. But in a no-respawn game like S&D, the price to pay for being an idiot and running into battle shooting randomly is a nice long 2-4 minute respawn. That's motivation enough to play smarter. I just know that I have so much more fun playing TF2 than Halo. And I've never experienced a lack-of-teamwork on TF2. I try and always be a team-player. If my team is waiting for the starting gate to open and I see an engineer that is building a sentry, I'll swtich classes to help him build it, then when the game starts, switch back to the class I planned on using. And I've experienced countless deeds just like this over my 160 hours of TF2. And I hope you're playfully exaggerating on the Resistance thing, because it's 30 vs. 30... you added about 100 too many people. And if it makes you feel better, they have devised a way to divide the 30 people on the team into 5 squads that will do various tasks. I probably won't like it, but I'm still going to buy it. ;D Pheonix holds a very valid point, all of these games have some run and gun element, they just present it in a different way, call of duty you either camp or "run and gun" there's no real middle ground, and if you love TF2 soo much you should know about the R&G part of that, what do scouts, soldiers, heavies, and demo men do? There is still a strategy aspect to it. The scouts have very little health, the soldier and heavy are extremely slow and easy bait for spies, and the demo man is certainly not a R&G class. I don't even know why we are having this argument. It's impossible to compare Halo 3 and Team Fortress 2.

right each game does adds some stradegy to it through class types or game rules(no spawns) its just thatwhen it comes to stradegy its usually very simple stuff. Nothing big time. Like you say u help your teammates build stuff and yes that is stradegy, but again it's not like actual warfare tactics. It's more of a simple form of teamwork. Another example is in Halo3 SWAT. If you go in as a team you usually assign names to various locations on the map. Then if you see an enemy there you can give your teammates his location and they know where he is. As for call of duty S&D the teams usually coordinate simple flanking manueveres to kill off as many people on the enemy team ad to give them an opening to plant the bomb. All these games use stradegy, i'm just saying that due to the run and gun nature of all shooters these stradegies usually aren't very complex and pertain mostly to just simple teamwork and communication
