i dunno. Maybe he's trying to regain his power so he can leave this website and begin his destruction of humanity...we'll just have to wait and see. If toasters start killing people, we'll know we're in trouble

Resistance 2 got a good first review... I'm happy. ;D I was kind of doubting if it would bring enough new things to the table to be any good... I guess it did. ;D
Did anyone get Dead Space yet? Is that any good?

No, squirrels do not take over the world. That is an idiotic thought.

A buy 4 get 3 free deal? Where do you get one of those? That was a joke. The best I've seen is a Buy 3 Get 1 Free from Toys R Us. Of course, I did something tricky and winded up with a Buy 2 Get 1 Free and then I used a coupon and got the 3rd game from Best Buy. ;D

oh ho. Thats some good work there Drew!
By they way I rented Dead Space... ITS AWESOME! No like srsly its a really fun, well made game. It really takes survival horror to the next level, with an extra emphasis on SURVIVAL. I always play a game on hard the first time, because I figure if I can be enetertained by it without being frusturated by the difficulty the gameplay is pretty solid. But anyways so even on Hard mode its challenging and still fun to play. I'm trying to get the achievement for getting through the whole game with only the Plasma Cutter, so I haven't tried the other guns yet, but there's 5 others, and they all look pretty cool, so while there's only a few weapons they all are very different and they have a variety of functions. Also there is a nice varieties of enemies you encounter, and there are usually three different iterations of these enemies (hard to kill, harder to kill, really hard to kill) And there are also some very entertaing boss-like enemies, as well as a few Major Boss enemies you only have to fight once in a level or for one maybe twice in the game. The story also has a decent length. About 11 hours going at a decent pace in Hard mode. The emphasis on survival is also on the limited inventory space and limited ammo supply. The enemies drop ammo and you find some throughout the enviornment, but you still end up running out if you don't consevere it. Theres also a nice little store to buy more ammo, med packs, upgrade nodes, weapons, upgraded suits, etc. The killing system s also pretty unique. The main way to conserve ammo is to shoot of enemy limbs. Shooting off enemy limbs also does extra damage to the enemies so its a good thing to do. The average enemy can handle up to 8 shoots in the torso, but you can down him with three well placed shoots to the legs and one to the arm (They walk on theire arms if you shoot out thier legs) Some of the enemies are also wierdly formed so it takes some experimentation to understand what you need to shoot. for example, theres a neco-fetus thing that is real small. You want to shoot off the tentecales that come off it's back when it's getting ready to shoot you. If you wait it shoots spikes at you. Just shooting the body takes forever and it jumps around on the walls and stuff, so you always have to change the direction of your weapon to sever the limbs right. They also give you a kinesis thing to allow you to pick up objects and shoot them at enemies, and a stasis device which freezes any enemies you hit either giving you the chance to shoot them, or if your out of ammo, melee them to death. The stasis also has a limited power supply so you have to find and/or buy stasis packs to recharge it so it's not overpowered. All the weapons and armor can have thier damage, health, capacity, range, etc. upgraded through the use of power nodes and a ugrade bench found periodically throughout a level. The other really cool thing about this game is there is no HUD at all in anyway. Your Health bar is a glowing bar on the back of your suit, and your Stasis meter is a glowing half circle on your left shoulder. The game never stops going. The only times the game stops is whether you hit the pause button or are using a save point. The store and upgrade becnh are both used as the game is going, so it's possible to be attacked while using one of these. In fact it's happened to me while using the upgrade bench. I start ugrading my suit and all of a sudden a guy comes out of nowhere and slices me in half. The inventory menu is acessed with the y button and appears as a glowing sreen in front of the character, so you can still menuver and walk around while controling your items and weapons. Its the same when the nonplayer characters contact you. Either a video box of the cahracters face and imediate surrounding pops up on a screen a in front of you, or an audio box pops up and you hear them. Eveything is controlled as the game is going and nothing stops you or causes your vision to be impaired too much (with the exception of the store and upgrade bench which limit movement cause thier stationary.) You can be shooting enemies as your listening to an adiou log left by a deceased crew member. Or you can be reading a text log and have an enemy come behind you and eat your head off. It's very dynamic and fluid and it alows for a more realistic game experience.
As for the cons, there arent a whole lot. There are a few slight glitches. Really nothing that can hamper your experience. the only one worth mentioning is that sometimes in certain areas you can walk into a room and have enemies attack you, but if you back up into the room you were just in, they just walk away. This has only happened twice though and I'm halfway through the game so it's not a big deal. In fact, with most other rooms if you don't enter the next room fast enough, the enemy will squeeze through before the door shuts and continue attacking you. The story is also slightly slow at times. You have a NP charcter in the control room hacking into the crew logs tryng to piece together what happens and she'll occasionally tell you more on what happened and the story slowly comes together. Other then that the main object is each level you go to a different area of the ship and repair something or do something the prevents you from being killed, whether it's repairing an asteroid shooter and fixing the engines so you don't plummet out of orbit and slam into the planets surface. while they sound mundane it's actually difficult. All these repairs are a multi step things and usually encompass the entirety of the level ( a good 45-60 min) to fix. Other things you do relate to escape, such as launching an asteroid with a distress beacon, etc. And while teh story really focues on present issues, it works to advance the plot tremndously. In fact the story put all together is amazing and really exciting, it just unfolds slowly thats all.
This combination of limb severing, low ammo, and the grusome death that results in running out of ammo and getting killed, the really cool story (while a litte slow), the ingenious no HUD for anything design, and teh pure horror and excitement really make the game a challenge but also entertaining game, that requires lots of consevation and strategic planning as well as common sense. I'm giving it a 9/10

sounds good. Another friend of mine has it and likes it, but he says it's nothing compared to fallout 3. Which is apparently super super awesome. And if squirrels don't take over the world, what does?
