[but fighting games are the easiest to make...] I have to disagree. I think arcade-like games (ie Pong) are easiest to make.

ya and games like frogger. Or Pac-Man.
We should make some classic arcade game, but different. So it's got the same feel as an arcade game, but different objectives and a new game altogether. Like a Modern Renaissance Arcade Game thats got the same look and feel as classics, but is a whole different thing.

Like a Modern Renaissance Arcade Game thats got the same look and feel as classics, but is a whole different thing. Or a collection of arcade games... which expands the fun... especially if we finely polish each game to function as it's own game, and then add 24 more games that functions on their own. Plus add leaderboards, multiplayer, difficulty levels, and different modes for each game. Like we could take battleship and have you verse a computer. Ok, there's 1 game. But then we add multiplayer (a must). Cool, that makes it better. Then we had a scoring system with leaderboards (excluding multiplayer to prevent cheating). Nice. Then we top it off with 6 different gaming modes... which... I don't know... 6-player? A bigger ocean? More ships? Different kinds of attacks? Moving ships? Battleship wasn't too good of an example, but the point has (hopefully) been made.

indeed, but what I was saying was make a whole NEW arcade game. Something completley different, but with the same graphics and gameplay feel as classic arcade games.

It'll be hard to come up with something new, tons of stuff has already been done. But anything we make will be made right. No cutting corners. A little pet peeve of mine is the game's main menu. That has to be perfect. Another pet peeve is lasting effect. The game will have to be so much fun or have so much content that it will last a long, long time.

But most has to be optional, we don't want a 100+ hour campaign that'll bore the shit outta people after the 60th hour or so.

But it won't all be one continuous campaign. Think of it as a book series. There will be 20(?) books (each with "chapters") and maybe focus on 6 different people with different styles of gameplay. Like the classes on TF2... It'll be tough keeping a players interest, but that's where Michael steps in. How he's going to do it is beyond me. I also suggest having a set number of "main" campaigns, then a bunch of optional ones.

There's still concept art, programming, multiplayer, music, model building, etc...

Yeah there is other stuff but you specifically said that I would have to keep the audience entertained.....thats like the basis of all games.....so...ow... So let's get some discussions going. - Games these days are all about the hype. Most games don't live up to hype and some are (without being there fault) hyped to the extreme and are expected to be godlike; and when they aren't, get slammed with negative reviews. We DO NOT want this to happen. Maybe our baby can stand up to the hype, but let's not take the chance. We need to keep it on the down-low.
- Next, yes, your job is vastly important. Probably the most important. Then again, multiplayer will be a big aspect in the game. An entire disc's worth. If necessary, we can hop on the bandwagon and do a multiplayer-only game. Or sell the campaign separate from multiplayer (each $60, together $100 or something). And we can also scratch the creation tool if we find that to be too complicated.
- To be honest, I'm really looking forward to the Hunting gametype multiplayer mode, where players get hunted by wild beasts. Maybe the beast can be player-controlled, maybe the players will be able to band together and kill the beast; we'll have to work this out later.
Why I'm excited is probably the aspect of coding the beast's behavior. And the realism involved. Like if the beast charges through a forest, his tracks will leave footprints, he'll knock over tress (with real physics), he'll make the ground shake, etc...
Here's some examples of the monsters: Picture 200 players in boats on an ocean. Not little row boats, but destroyers and aircraft carriers. I guess they'll be expecting the monster, which takes away the realism, but they can't really do anything about it, now can they? Then 5 of these things swim up and attack. They behave independently. The players can then proceed to do whatever. Shoot them with guns or cannons, call in reinforcements (maybe), get in life boats and attempt to flee to a nearby island (boy, it will be funny when they discover the water beast has legs [like in the picture]), practically anything anyone would do in real life. RAWR!

Ever heard of Psychonauts? Great game, too bad nobody's ever heard of it. Minimal ads and such is good, just not to the point of saying "HAY WURLD HOUR GAEM IZ TEH BESTEST EVUR!"
I would say make it a full bundle, because the two "Multiplayer only" games I've played pretty much sucked. Shadowrun is made of fail, and Warhawk was just lame.
That sounds a lot like Juggernaut. But if it was AI, that's different. That would be made of win. I'm picturing like a jungle-type theme, or a burnt out city/building-type thing, where there are plenty of dark corners, places to hide behind, etc.
