i just though up a brief background for epsilon, as mentioned earlier they're mercenaries. but i thought, they can be our humanoid race, not necessarily human though, but the same anatomy, the armor i've designed for then is a sleek black faceplate, i may make their entire armor like that, but on each armor piece is the individuals serial number in white lettering. but as for their background i thought that they could be superior combatants to most other species and they follow directions flawlessly; the perfect soldier, but they have no want to conquest against the other planets, but they saw an opportunity for their soldiers to be used as mercenaries to fight in wars for the other species, even if their troops are being hired to fight on both sides of the war. they are a very neutral group, their cities are comprised of sleek black monolithic towers yet they still use projectile weapons, although they make use of nano machines to reconstruct ammunition inside of their weapons, thus negating the need to reload. i believe the same can be used for their armor, it could be like a very strong glass visor, and when shot it'll crack then after 2-3 seconds the crack will seal up

hmmm....I actually like that alot for epsilon. In my mind I actually pictured Epsilon being the more humanoid race. As for the armor i like that too. I like the very sleekness of it....however, we may need to think of a different color, only because Beta is already black colored with black buildings and it might be confusing. On the topic of buildings I actually thought Epsilon might just have gigantic building sized spaceships. That way they can alwasy get around where they are needed and they never need to set up roots anywhere. Also back on the topic of color, i think maybe Epsilon should be blindingly white transparency, like white tinted glass, with black lettering. I always thought of Epsilon as very prideful and almost vain of thier abilities, but vain because they truley have the right to be that way because they are the best. They want to be seen in the battle, they want people to be shooting at them, and they want to be challenged. They're a little like the Spartans in that respect, and the Mandalorians from KOTR. Thier ultimate glory is to die in battle facing hundreds of opponents at once, and taking most of them with them. also, the nanomachine ammo and repairing cracks...absolutely brilliant. I love it, it's a great idea. In fact Epsilon's health will be like Halo shields. thier armor can only take so much damage before being pierced, but if they hide for a couple seconds their armor repair's itself. I really would like to see this drawing now. Epsilon is going to be cool. and a long those lines, I think I've got the endng down. The last level is going to roll out like Stephen King's the DarK Tower, ending. In Stephen King's The Dark Tower, throughout the whole series the main character Roland gains these compainions that help him and work with him to get to his main goal of reaching the Dark Tower and defeating his nemesis who is trying to destroy everything. Throughout the final book however, his companion's heroically die or leave him and in the end he confronts his enemy with only one friend left and even then after he wins his friend leaves him, and he enters the tower alone to see his fate. So we're gonna have our main character, and I think he'll have a party with him that has elements of all the alien species except Delta, beacause at the moment Delta is still the main antagonist for now. Anyways, the last level, they will have infiltrated Delta's main world. Driven through to some core point. Since Delta is going to be somewhat of an adavanced Cyborg like species, and since they will be so ridiculously powerful and almost omnipotent, they will have assigned all thier mission programming to one main being. Sort of like thier God. He'll have overeaching power over all of Delta's elements and he is basically the brain. A lot like Beta whose intelligence is centered around the main core probe. But since this Delta god is so unstoppable he'll believe there is no force in the galaxy that can stop him. That's the main reason why Delta assigned all thier intelligence to this one being. They don't belive he can be destroyed. So our main hero and his companions will have traveled into this main fortified core. Basically a suicide mission in the truest sense of the word. First as thier entering the core one character, possibly the Charlie species will be hurt defending the party. He'll stay behing with some kind of bomb so that Delta's main army can't follow them into the core and provide reinforcements for the Royal Gaurd forces defending the Delta god. Then, they'll eventually come to a room with some kind of security defense set up. The Beta element being a machine will stay behind and keep the security alarms from triggering allowing the rest of the party to escape to the next area. However when he keeps the defenses off, the Royal Gaurd finds him and shoots him down. As he's being shot and killed he'll keep his hand on the switch even as he's being peppered with laser fire, and he'll keep the defense from activating just long enough for them to escape. So now only the Alpha and Epsilon element remain. They enter a main atrium leading to the core room. Suddenly all around them The remaining Royal Gaurd forces apear and surround them. They'll be at the door to the core room, and it will open and Alpha will go through, but epsilon stays back Alpha looks at him for a second, not understanding why he isn't coming, Epsilon just says, " Don't worry, I'll even up the odds for ya." Then Epsilon hits the door lock, locking Alpha into the room to face The Delta God alone. However, Epsilon will stay in the Atrium, and almost in Scarface fashion he'll stand at the top of the steps leading up to the core room. he'll pull his gun out and his visor will be up and you'll see his face. The camera will pan over the hundreds of royal Gaurd facing him, them the camera will take a wide view of the room from the view of the Royal Gaurd forces. All you'll see is a lone white figure confronting this horde of darkness. The people will go into slow motion and the camera will start to zoom in towards the lone white figure. It will eventually get to his face. And as the camera looks at his face, he'll smile, wildly crazily, knowing that this is his moment of glory. He'll close his visor, and the scene will speed. He'll fire rounds of explosives into the roayal gaurd and they in turn wil begin to fire back at him. He'll be peppered with shots, but he'll stay standing. He'll take out tens of them at a time, he'll run out of explosive sand just start spraying machinegun fire all over the crowd. They'll start advancing up the stairs and he'll just shoot them down. Not a single robot will reach him. eventually a shot will hit him in the face and break off the bottom bit of his faceplate so you can see his mouth again, and he'll still be smiling. blood will be staining his teeth and sometimes coming out of his mouth, and he'll start laughing. all you'll hear is his manic laughter, and eventually he will be hit enough that he'll fall to his knees, but he still be firing still shooting, and by the end of the scene he'll be kneeling there in front of thousands of dying royal gaurd. Not a single one will be left behind. And he'll kneel there smiling, looking over his carnage. He'll lift his faceplate the rest of the way and tears of joy will flow from his eyes. He won't say anything juust sit there laughing. His armor will be ruined, cracked, blackened, blown to pieces. Blood will be everywhere. Then he'll fall back and the laughter will stop. His body will slide down the stairs and hyit the ground and stop in the middle of the atyrium. The camera will look down on him. The life gone from his eyes, but that manic smile will still be on his face. and the camera will zoom out and you'll see his shining white armor laying in a field of black robotic bodies. As for Alpha's fate, I'm not sure, but i know before he accomplishes his ultimate sacrifice, it'll flashback to his companions and show thier courage as they died and courageously did what they had to do to defeat Delta. Then he'll do something equally sacrificial and couragou, and thats how the game will end with him doing something to defeat the unbeatable god that is Delta. To tell you the truth I'm npt sure how I'm gonna create and ending for Alpha that will be as cool as Epsilon's final sacrifice. It's gonna be tough

Holy crap. That story... is amazing.
I'll get some kinda image studio program, most likely, and see if I can make some level models?

i just thought of a climactic ending sequence for the main character, as you said earlier, he would come up on some core area to fight the delta god entity, i believe we could make it operate much like the gravemind in halo (it is the mind to all of delta) but i suddenly thought, this core could be located in the center of their homeworld, which could have once been a planet, but they mined out the insides, and built inside and outside of the planets shell, thus making the world so much larger, but this core could be a gravity stabalizer of sorts, and in some fashion the main character destroys the reactor taking his life with it, and without the core, the planet collapses into itself crushing everything along with it, and killing the "god" therefore making the rest of delta species relatively easy to destroy

Wa-holy Crap. That sacrificial ending is amazing. But then there's another thought... does everyone have to sacrifice themselves for their endings to be "epic"? I'll get some kinda image studio program, most likely, and see if I can make some level models? Really? That'd be great. But keep them basic because the design of the levels will be partly based off the design of the characters. Plus it's based off the species' technology... And (to Michael) are we finished creating all the species? I was kind of hoping we'd go to sigma... but I'll settle for omicron. ;D And dangit! James can draw better than me. ;D So the entire Epsilon species will be based off white plates? And finally: Here's 3 rough sketches that I must admit look much better on paper: I just might of stole one from a How-To-Draw book... but when we transfer it to 3D, it will hardly look anything like the sketch.

I found a good torrent for 3D Studio Max, so I've got it now.
I may or may not have anything sometime soon, depending on whether or not I get my English grade up.

ok...wow, im loving the feedback. Ok starting from top to bottom
James: I really like the epsilon skecth. very good. The only thing is I think a few of the armor plates should be a little bigger, and the shoulder plates would look cool if they were sort of bulked up like a football player's and kinda were higher then normal. Other then that I really like it. I especially like the grey underlayer connecting the armor together. thats very good and it will look awesome rendered to 3d
James: yeah I was definitly thinking along the lines of "kill ubergod, troops become weaker" deal. As for the homeworld being hollowed out and turned into a giant base....thats awesome. Really good idea. I like that, and it will just add to Delta's already gigantic tech prowess. Still I need to think of a good way for Alpha to sacrifice himself...i'll work on it give me some time.
Drew:And your right Drew, everyone doesn't technically have to sacrifice themselves in the end...however they do all have to somehow leave the main hero forever. I was originally thinking charlie might live on to tell the tale of thier courage or something like that, but now i think im leaning toward Beta. I think maybe Beta only agreed to help beacuse it wanted to do something. I think maybe I'll have Delta reclaim the Beta probe and all of Beta's core elements. Then our one praty member from Beta species will come with the other so he can find the core element and free it and remake his species. I think maybe they'll free the core probe, and they will use some kind of advanced warp technology to transport it outside the galaxy where it can rebuild and live in peace. Our Beat element will leave with the core probe once it's rescued...how bout that?
Drew: I think we're gonna stick with the 5 species...but I'm thinking maybe one of them should be humanity.....but like Gears humanty, completely unconnected to Earth and with it's own developed weapons. If we want humans it's either gonna be Alpha or Epsilon. then again I might just scrap that and make them all aliens. I dont know.
Drew: yes James is a better drawer then you, but at least take pride in the fact taht your a better drawer then me. and yes Epsilon is gonna rock out the transparenty-white armor. I already explained above, but its cause they are very proud of thier skills and they want everyone to see them in battle basically
Dave (Twelve): You do what you gotta do buddy. Get that english grade up! And don't worry about us, you just do what you gotta do. Don't let Jack or Hipkins or Totty or Dobos or whoever your english teacher is down!
ok that should be good for now. I actually have to write an english essay right now myself, and i have to hurry or im gonna miss HEROS and SARAH CONNER CHRONICLES!

yeah, what inspired me on the epsilon armor, is like the ipods, how they have the clear coat, then a solid black or white underneath, cos i always thought it looked really cool

Ouch... 5... *sad* That's a heavy blow to variety... but don't worry, variety. I'll find a way to make more species. Rather it be ones for multiplayer-only or as additional content... I'll find a way...
Maybe one could be extinct? That be easy... just weapons and vehicles...

well if you trrly want more species we could very well put more into the game. I just don't know if I could work anymore into the story......I was even thinking, humanity could be a side species tied to the story line. Like Humanity is the only species that was ever able to fight off Delta, so they just stay where they are and protect thier borders from any invading forces. Maybe our heroic group could try to find humanity to plead for help, and thats where they get the idea to attack the Delta core. Humanity could have an empire the size of Delta's, but they just stay where they are and keep to themselves. If you want I could also add a variety of extinct species that was wiped out by Delta, and somehow they can be mentioned or a level can be centered around knowing who they are. We could also just add them to multiplayer, but it would still be more interesting to have some link to the story. We just can't keep adding stuff though or we'll over complexify the story and make it more comfusing. Also the more story elements we have the more it feels like the story is too bloated with stuff. Good storys center around a single goal, with secondary goals that all lead to teh main goal anyways. For example, saving Cortana in Halo 3 was a secondary goal to the main goal of defeating the Flood, because Cortana had the fire codes that they needed. But I'm definitly willing to consider more species...

But I'm definitly willing to consider more species... I realize that adding more will likely hurt the story, so that's why I'm suggesting perhaps multiplayer-only. Maybe these can be mentioned in single-player, but you don't ever have to fight them. I want to try and avoid using humans. For the sole purpose of difficulty. If we add them, they'll have to look like humans with really nice graphics. We can be a little lazier on the graphics of the aliens (we won't be the best game with graphics, but we'll definitely be in the top 90%) because people can't compare them to real life like they can humans. Plus it just won't be as fun. Wouldn't it be creepy if the extinct race was the humans? OooOOoooooOOOooo!!! Also we need to look at balancing Single and Multi player. Make players want to come back to single player after beating it. I REALLY REALLY REALLY like the R&C: ToD weapon upgrade system. The only problem was the learning curse was too easy. It went from buying 1 upgrade a visit to maxing out the upgrades on 3 guns... which isn't good. I don't think I can stress how much I love this system. It will be challenging to work it into the gameplay... but we can do it. Also we should add things to collect (Not like cartoony things, but like GoW's dog tags)... maybe an upgradable ship... Maybe we can do mini-campaigns in multiplayer that are the secondary missions that won't be in single player. They can focus on any species and any event in the species' lifespan. Like one battle can focus on the omicron civil war and another can jump to fall of the omicron species thousands of years later... It would be a real challenge with the weapons and armor downgrading, so we may take out the time span thing and just focus on the present. But in 10 years, who knows what we'll be able to do. ;D Doesn't planning all of this make you wonder why no one can come up with games this good? Is it because all of us have been exposed to gaming which boost our imaginative juices? Whatever... ;D
